Susan's Regency era workshops
Loosely speaking, the period from 1800 to 1825

Susan teaches a regular monthly Regency dance class covering early 19th century waltz, quadrille, Scotch reel, and country dances for The Elegant Arts Society in New York City!

Every year Susan teaches and leads the dancing at the Annual Assembly held by The Elegant Arts Society in New Haven, Connecticut. This year's date: October 20, 2007.


Mr. Wilson's Waltz (Regency Waltz)
The four parts of Thomas Wilson's 1815 French waltz sequence: the march, the slow waltz, the sauteuse, and the jete. The music shifts from 3/4 to 2/4 and 6/8, and the last two parts are energetic leaping waltzes.

French Quadrilles
Five figures of the original "square dance" taught with the style and French steps of the early 19th century.

The Royal Scotch Quadrilles
Five lively and complex figures of an 1824 quadrille designed specifically to incorporate reels (heys) and Scottish footwork.
